Snaps & Rye, Notting Hill
On a bright stretch of Golborne Road in Notting Hill, Snaps & Rye is a Danish offering promising fresh ingredients and a bright, airy space to enjoy them. Industrial chic furnishings and light colours make it a bright and breezy backdrop to the seriously model-esque waiters working here. All blonde hair and white teeth, the courteous staff welcome me to my table and offer me a menu filled with authentic Danish fare such as their gorgeous flash fried smoked eel with warm potato salad. The dishes are healthy, fresh and light in portions, making them ideal for that date with that girl or guy who you know likes to look after their svelte physique, but not ideal for debauchery. Also the staff are so attractive, you may actually prefer to come on a friend-date and enjoy the eye candy whilst seductively eating your thinly sliced beetroot.
Opt for the delicious smoked duck breast to start and enjoy the rare beef on rye if you want something a bit heartier, otherwise opt for the amazing fish dishes. The ingredients are seriously fresh and the flavours are masterfully coupled, making each mouthful light yet sensationally tasty.
Definitely a strong contender for a summer lunch date, this spot is ideally located at the top end of Portobello road so you can enjoy the market, shop on Colville road or stroll along the pastel coloured backstreets of Notting Hill before a fresh and healthy bite to eat at Snaps & Rye.
The food is wonderful but the atmosphere isn’t indulgent or warm.
2. The staff are sexier than the ambiance is.
